UPDATE FROM OUR CHAIR JULIE & THE TEAM AT HMS.
An entire year has passed from the exact week we postponed our 2020 production ‘All Shook Up – a musical comedy’. The production was ready on stage to take Hyde Festival Theatre’s audiences back to the years of ‘rock and roll’ the 1950’s.
The closure of public spaces meant the superb efforts from our talented cast, dedicated crew and creative team had to be locked away until a more suitable time.
We feel this week is a perfect occasion to update our patrons, theatre family and audience members of our future plans. IT’S GREAT NEWS… ‘All Shook Up’ will finally take to the stage at Hyde Festival Theatre in 2022. Even more great news… it will return with many of our original cast who worked extremely hard to bring this production alive the first time around.
2022 may seem a long time away for some, but with ongoing restrictions and social distancing expected throughout 2021, we feel it would be safer and more secure for the future of our society.
We will start our calendar year as we always do, with rehearsals through autumn and winter to run up to our show week in spring, which in 2022 is Wednesday 6th April – Saturday 9th April. Evening performances at 7.30pm with a Saturday Matinee at 2.30pm.
We are more than dedicated to bring you this hilarious musical comedy, filled with tales of love, hope, second chances and the healing power of ‘music’. Much of which sounds like 2020 in a nutshell. This production is also packed with 25 hits from the king himself – ‘ELVIS’. Who doesn’t love a bit of ‘Rock & Roll’
New tickets will go on sale in autumn 2021 and more information will be released in the coming weeks regarding casting, possible auditions and production get togethers.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who donated ticket money to ensure we got through the terrible times for theatre in 2020. Without you, Hyde Musical Society would have never survived the cancellation of an entire production. We cannot thank you enough.
We hope throughout the remainder 2021 – our 80th year in theatre, we are able to spend time getting back to normality with fund raising and building what our past members worked so hard to achieve. We cannot wait to come back bigger and better in 2022.
